My marathon and Ironman 70.3 training has already begun.

The training.

As I stated my marathon and Ironman 70.3 training has already begun. I joined a gym through my health insurance provider. I found one that was close enough and had a pool. The nice thing is it seems to hardly be used, at least while I’m there. Including myself I’ve seen only four people use it and never at the same time. They have plenty treadmills as well, which has been great for interval training.

Deciding to do an Ironman 70.3

After getting into running last year I started thinking about doing triathlons. Only one small problem I don’t swim and at the time I had no where to go swimming. The idea of doing triathlon kept weighing on me and I decided I wanted to do an Ironman event before I turn 40. To that end I decided to sign up for the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN 70.3 TEXAS in Galveston, TX. It takes place on April 7th, 2019. Time to step up to a full distance marathon.

While my brother was on another cross country move he came to visit. While he was down he asked if I wanted to do the Dallas Marathon with him. I said absolutely. The backstory on this is last year, while he was training to do the Marine Corp Marathon, I had called him up and said ‘Hey I’m thinking of doing the Dallas Marathon in Decemeber. Do you think I could be ready in 8 weeks?’ He of course said I definitely had the endurance, but that my joints probably couldn’t take it. I said OK I’ll do the half then, and I did, followed by the half in Fort Worth two months later.
